PhD Studentship in Eye Tracking and Driving

Applications are invited for a student to investigate the role and potential of eye tracking and simulations in either the design of electric vehicle interiors

Funded by: Coventry University – Coventry School of Art and Design
Fees: UK/EU fee equivalent for three years
Maintenance grant:  £13,726 maintenance per annum (tax free)
Studentship academic contact: Andree Woodcock
External collaborators (if applicable)

The student will join an established cross faculty team of cognitive psychologists, physiologists, designers and engineers working in the Human Technology Centre.

Details of proposed research:
The use of eye tracking in automotive ergonomic s is well established. The proposed research will address the way in which this can be taken forward, and together with physiological and other measurements used to aid the design of new vehicle interiors.

The exact  focus of the research will be  negotiated with the students, and there is scope for a motivated student to direct the research e.g. looking at learner drivers, elderly drivers and their interaction with new in vehicle technology, use of physiological and psychological measures to influence the design of future HMI

Candidate specification
Eligibility to apply is restricted to UK/EU fee payers
