2019 President’s Entrance Scholarships in Ryerson University, Canada
Ryerson University also offers a more diversified entrance scholarships. International students can take advantage of these scholarships.
Students should also note that these scholarships are annual scholarships. This means that even if you see that the scholarship has expired for this year, the students entering the subsequent year will still be considered for the Ryerson University entrance Scholarships
Scholarship Description
The President’s Entrance Scholarships are awarded to secondary school graduates who
demonstrate academic accomplishment, leadership qualities, original thought and creative
ability.

- $10,000 per year
- 12 awards
- Scholarship is renewable each year provided a 3.67 CGPA and a clear academic
standing are maintained and a full-time course load of 80% (4 units) is carried in both the
fall and winter semesters. - Recipients will be guaranteed a space in first-year residence for their first year of study.
(Please note that residence costs are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.) - Application deadline is March 1, 2019.
Scholarship Eligibility
Students who are:
- Current full-time (Fall 2018/Winter 2019) Canadian secondary school students who are
Canadian citizens/permanent residents qualifying for admission on the basis of the best
six Grade 12 U or M courses or equivalent with a minimum 90% final average required for
consideration. All course work and course examinations must be completed by June 30,
2019. - Courses used in scholarship average calculations must be completed at the student’s
regular school. - Pursuing post-secondary studies on a full-time basis for the first time. Students who have taken up to three one-term post-secondary courses are also eligible but must have maintained first-class standing in these courses in addition to high academic performance in secondary school, as noted above.

- Current full-time (Fall 2018/Winter 2019) International Students attending secondary
school, who are or will be entering Canada with a Study Permit authorization, and who
will qualify for admission on the basis of the best six Grade 12U or M courses or
equivalent with a minimum 90% final average required for consideration or their country’s
equivalent of the Ontario Grade 12 U program and first class standing. All course work
and course examinations must be completed by June 30, 2019. - Courses used in scholarship average calculations must be completed at the student’s regular school.
- Pursuing post-secondary studies on a full-time basis for the first time. Students who have taken up to three one-term post-secondary courses are also eligible but must have maintained first-class standing in these courses in addition to high academic performance in secondary school, as noted above.
- Have a valid Canadian Study Permit when they register in courses at Ryerson and who must maintain their International Student (Study Permit) status for the entirety of their studies in order to receive and retain their scholarship.
Application Procedures
The Selection Committee reserves the right to interview short-listed candidates if necessary. Decisions will not be made without a complete application package. Adjudication is based on the following four components:
1. A completed application form, submitted electronically.
2. Leadership activities, as outlined on the application form.
3. An essay or project summary of no more than 750 words (must be keyboarded and double spaced). The essay may be a piece of creative writing, or a summary of any creative project which you may have undertaken which reflects the capacity for original thought and creative ability. This may include, but is not limited to, design, performance, writing, entrepreneurial enterprise or any such activity or accomplishment that is creative or original. Include your original essay or project summary as part of your completed application form package, submitted electronically.
4. Two referee statements. Only one referee statement verifying academic achievement will be accepted; the other statement, or both, should address leadership/creative endeavours. Please ask your referees to complete these statements and return to you, so you may submit your completed application electronically. References may be contacted to confirm information.
