The research will undertake a holistic approach to the design of future learning scenarios, based on the hexagon spindle model of educational ergonomics.

Although the scope of the project may be defined by the student, its focus must be student centred recognising the number of factors that can influence any student interaction, and the need to optimise learning for each student.

Areas of study may relate to specific user groups – such as lifelong learners, older learners, distance learning, or new paradigms /technologies of learning; understanding the needs of learners, the design of teaching material or teaching environments.

The outcome of the research will be negotiated with the student, but are likely to be in the form of revisions and augmentation of the models of educational ergonomics, best practices and guidelines to inform more user centred design of educational facilities and materials.
