IAPT Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners



Up to £18,652 per annum, Agenda for Change Band 4 increasing to Band 5 on successful completion of the year training

Fixed term until April 2014

Full time 37.5 hours per week

Based across Kent


KCA Mental Health Services are an Accredited Qualified Provider with over 20 years experience of delivering primary care psychological therapy services to the population of Kent and Medway. We are the largest employer of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in the South East and are currently expanding our services in Kent and Medway, and have the following training opportunities for High Intensity and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner roles.


PWPs are trained to assess and deliver low intensity interventions such as guided self-help, telephone support and brief 1:1 psychological interventions to people suffering with anxiety and depression.


During your training year you will spend one day per week at university during term time. The training is provided by the University of Surrey, and commences in April 2013. The remainder of your working week will be spent in applying your new skills, with supervision in our offices across Kent and Medway. The course is at postgraduate level and you will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to study at this level. You must have some experience of working (paid or unpaid) in a mental health service, or with those experiencing mental health difficulties. You might also have previous relevant training.

Commissioning under AQP/PbR requires a staged payment solution, and the agreed starting salary will be paid in incremental stages, every 13 weeks, with a final bonus amount paid upon the successful completion of both the course and the required amount of appointments offered.
