Technical Officer (Combined Research Studentship)



Part time position working 18.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE (Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday)

Fixed term contract for 1 year (in the first instance- extension of contract will be linked to progression within the research studentship)

This post is a part time technical post combined with a research studentship opportunity. We need to recruit a sports therapy/sports science technician at graduate level or equivalent.  You will provide specialist technical support for our sports, health and exercise teaching and research. You will be involved with directly assisting students and researchers.

Adaptable and eager to learn you will be self-motivated and an excellent communicator. It is essential that you are educated to HND/ Degree/ NVQ level 3 in a science subject or have equivalent in service experience. Additional experience of working in a sports therapy laboratory would be an advantage.

This post is combined with a research studentship chosen from the following area:

A three dimensional biomechanical analysis of simulated ankle sprain during static and dynamic activity. You will be expected to work half the week as a member of technical staff and to use the remaining time as a research student. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK throughout the entire length of the contract/studentship (up to 6 years for a PhD).

Under current UKBA regulations, the University is unlikely to be able to get a work permit in respect of this post. We can therefore only accept applications from people who will have the right to work in the UK for the total duration of the contract.
