Salary: Graduate bursary currently £13,590 per annum

Fixed term: 3 years. Initially for 2 years for MPhil with a further year for completion of PhD

Start date: 14 October 2013

Introduction

The University of Bedfordshire is pleased to be able to offer a full-time PhD scholarship supported by The Steel Memorial Bursary Fund in one of the two subject areas outlined below. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and the bursary per annum.

  • Institute of Biomedical and Environmental Science and Technology

A novel proteomic approach to assess the safety of pharmaceuticals and personal care products

  • Institute for Health Research

An examination of the high infant mortality rates and low birthweights among children of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin in Luton – Developing a support package for ante-natal care
(Director of Studies Professor Gurch Randhawa, e-mail gurch.randhawa@beds.ac.uk)

Term: Bursary will commence on the 14 October 2013, initially for two years for the MPhil stage with a further year for PhD completion, subject to satisfactory progress. The studentship is for three years and is only available for UK and EU candidates.

Entry criteria:

  • A good first degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Masters degree in a subject related to the project (desirable).
  • Applicants need to submit a 500 word proposal setting out how they would approach the proposed subject area as a PhD study.
