MRes Fees Studentship Social inclusion and military populations



This is Part time, fixed term, fees only studentship

Job Summary: Applications are invited for an MRes studentship at the School of Life Sport and Social Sciences. This is a fees only studentship, undertaken part time over a two year period, and is intended for a piece of sociologically informed research. The studentship is expected to start on 31st July. All applications must be received by 28th May 2013.

How to apply: Applicants should submit the relevant forms, see link below, in addition to a 1-2 page proposal of their intended research project. The proposal should demonstrate an understanding of the relevant policy arena within either Scotland or the UK and should identify the theoretical frameworks to be engaged with. A competent research design should be evident and issues of recruitment should also be addressed. Any risks to the completion of the project (e.g. recruitment) should be identified, with possible sources of redress.

Additional Information: The study should be primarily a sociological analysis, although suggestions for inter-disciplinary research projects are also welcome. This is an open call, however existing areas of interest include (but are not limited to) any of the following: veterans and housing; veterans and education/employment; civilian experiences of early service leavers; civilian experiences of veterans involved in previous conflicts (Northern Ireland, Falklands, Gulf War); experiences of Reservist veterans, experiences of families of serving and/or veteran populations; gender and post-military experiences.

International applicants should note that the value of the studentship will cover the university’s home/EU tuition fee for an MRes programme.
