The McDonald’s Academic Excellence Award Scholarship is a one-time, $3,000 scholarship that, in partnership with the UNCF, is awarded to college-bound St. Louis and Metro East high school seniors. McDonald’s values education and offers scholarships to empower area youth and provide resources to help them attend college. This year’s scholarship and award total will exceed $70,000.

To qualify, high school seniors must complete the application package, online, which consists of an application (submitting all required fields, essay, and attachments) and recommendations from two (2) teachers, or one (1) teacher and one (1) counselor/principal, community service leader who are familiar with the student’s academic performance and involvement in school and community service. Students must use the “Invite Reference” button located on the scholarship “Application Status” page.

Other Eligibility requirements

  • The student must be African American/Black
  • The student must be U.S. Citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.8

Because providing service to the communities in which we live is important to McDonald’s and the UNCF, scholarship recipients must provide proof of volunteer service hours implemented at one of the following partner organizations – Mathews-Dickey Boys & Girls Club, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center or Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis. If no hours of service have been implemented at a partner organization, the recipient must be willing to volunteer at one of the organizations (and provide proof) prior to August 1, 2015.
