PhD Studentship “Light, Touch, Matters”



A fully funded PhD studentship is available from 1st February 2013 at the Wolfson Centre for Materials, Brunel University, London on the exciting EU FP7 funded project “Light, Touch, Matters”. LTM is a large consortium involving academic partners as well as small and medium enterprises across Europe. We aim to develop new design led technologies in OLED and piezoelectric materials fields for healthcare and wellbeing applications.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic PhD student with an interest in polymers and particle composite materials, from the development of new materials to the technologies involved in processing and testing them. Candidates will have at least a 2.1 class degree in materials science, engineering, physics or chemistry. He/she should be a team player, proactive, have good communication skills, and be willing to adapt to related subjects with which he/she is less familiar. Applications from UK/EU, as well as overseas students are welcome and encouraged.

The Wolfson Centre for Materials Processing is a Specialist Research Institute (SRI) focusing on materials research with an international reputation and currently has 40 researchers. It is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for both polymer processing and materials characterisation, and carries out fundamental research and technological development for industrial applications in the field of materials processing.
