Project Description
This PhD project will focus in the area of adaptive and responsive polymer systems, creating and studying new polymer nanoparticles whose structure and properties can adapt and change in response to the application of stimuli. The project work will involve the synthesis and characterization of new monomers/polymers, the study of their assembly into polymeric nanoparticles and the assessment of their stimuli-responsiveness.Â
Value of the Award and Eligibility
A full award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and an annual stipend (currently £13,726). A partial award covers fees at the UK/EU rate only.
Person Specification
The project would suit a student with interests in organic, polymer and/or supramolecular chemistries. Students must be UK/EU citizens and expect to obtain a first-class or upper-second-class Honours degree in chemistry.
