1 Year Industry focussed Masters by Research with ?13,724 bursary & ?2,000 towards fees for Food Science, Bio-chemistry or Chemistry graduates

This is an exciting opportunity to gain a Masters by Research degree in collaboration with an innovative company, a major food producer and a Swiss laboratory. The project involves the recovery and analysis of materials from waste emerging from a food processing facility. The project will be predominately based in the Chemistry Department, Lancaster University but may involve visits to the manufacturer and to Switzerland.

Applicants should have a first or upper second degree in food science, bio-chemistry or chemistry and an interest in techniques for the separation, purification and analysis of materials. It will particularly appeal to a researcher with an interest in nutritional and health issues.

The researcher will have access to the expertise and laboratories at Lancaster University and via the company. A tax free stipend of ?13724 is paid (equivalent to a salary of circa ?18,000). A contribution of ?2,000 towards the researcher tuition fees will be made by the project partners. Some travel is required.

The start date is mid-September 2014.
