ESRC White Rose Network Funded PhD Studentship: Multiculturalism, Gender and Sexuality

Applications are invited for a fully funded doctoral studentship, within an ESRC-funded research network involving Sheffield, Leeds and York Universities (which comprise the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre).

The network, entitled Reshaping Multiculturalism through Cultural Practices, will investigate the ways in which multiculturalism – as a set of ideas and ideals, practices and policies – is being reshaped by those who are most affected by it: cultural minorities. This project focuses on Multiculturalism, Gender and Sexuality. It is based at Sheffield University in the Department of Geography.

For more information, please contact Professor Richard Phillips (r.phillips@sheffield.ac.uk) and, for help with the application process (for a place in the Geography PhD programme), contact the Postgraduate Administrator (l.pitts@shef.ac.uk) or click the APPLY button below.

This +3 studentship offers full funding for three years; candidates must have a Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline and must have completed a Masters Degree with research training before beginning this doctoral programme (in October 2013).

The deadline is 15 March 2013. Candidates must fully complete an application for admission to the PhD programme in Geography at Sheffield University, uploading both references, specifying this Network and Supervisor on the application, and also emailing the lead supervisor to state that you wish to be considered within this scheme.
