DPhil Studentship in Single Molecule Covalent Chemistry

Closing date: 31st March 2013.

Applications are invited for a DPhil studentship in Single Molecule Covalent Chemistry, to work under the supervision of Professor Hagan Bayley. The studentship is part of a European Research Council funded project which aims to gain fundamental insight into the properties of membrane proteins, in particular channels and pores, and their applications in biotechnology.

The DPhil studentship is focussed on nanopore preparation, organic synthesis and single-channel recording using the techniques of protein chemistry, molecular genetics and biophysics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate who has a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Physics. The studentships will cover the cost of a DPhil course for up to 4 years. The position is available from April 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
