The position of Academic Associate offers a unique and rewarding opportunity for a well-qualified, motivated and talented individual to contribute to learning and teaching activities whilst also undertaking a PhD programme of research within the Sport Science department at Nottingham Trent University.  The successful candidate will be part of the Sport, Health and Performance Enhancement (SHAPE) Research Group.

The PhD is titled “The physiological responses to heating and cooling: the implications for health and sport”. This research will investigate how changes in temperature, via active and passive methods, affect exercise, neuromuscular and cognitive performance. The research will be supervised by Dr Caroline Sunderland and Dr Simon Cooper, SHAPE Research Group, NTU, Dr Chris Tyler, University of Roehampton and Dr Jonathan Folland, Loughborough University.

The teaching duties of the post are within exercise physiology and will involve the support of practical, laboratory and field based delivery as well as supporting students learning in seminars and through delivery of lectures.  As part of the 0.5FTE teaching duties you will have the opportunity to undertake a PGCHE at the University. 

It is highly desirable that applicants have a first class or 2:1 degree in Sports Science, Physiology, Human Biology or related discipline. An MRes or MSc in an appropriate discipline is also highly desirable.
