We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated lab manager of with experience of cell culture techniques and animal husbandry, and knowledge of related (molecular) biological science. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the technical ability to perform cell culture experiments, and organise laboratory stocks (animals and molecular tools). He/she will have proven organisational and people skills. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and has the initiative to learn and put skills into practice. The appointee will be line-managed by an experienced Senior Scientist who is a molecular biologist, and assist them with experiments for publication. 50% of the appointee’s time will be spent managing the laboratory and related animal activities, working with scientists in the lab and the Institute. The remaining 50% of the time will be spent on a variety of scientific projects, including molecular biology studies. Managerial abilities and evidence of people skills will be assessed at interview. Further training will be given where required.

Qualifications

Prospective candidates should hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant science subject and have proven previous experience of working with scientific teams.
