Postgraduate research scholarships

The School of Environment, Education and Development is pleased to announce a number of PhD studentships for September 2014 entry. 

These awards will cover tuition fees and a monthly stipend, the value of which will be confirmed in due course.  Studentships are open to home / EU and overseas students.  Applicants should have received an offer of a place for September 2014 entry on one of the following PhD programmes by Friday 21 March 2014.  In order for your PhD application to be processed in good time you are advised to apply for the PhD programme no later than Friday 21 February 2014.  Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 30 May 2014.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold an offer from the School of a place on one of the following PhD programmes:

Candidates should meet the entry requirements of the School of Environment, Education and Development:

  • Bachelor degree with First Class or Upper Second Class Honours (or international equivalent)
  • Master degree with a minimum grade of 65% in the dissertation and a minimum taught average grade of 65% (or international equivalent)
  • English language proficiency if applicable – minimum of IELTS 7 overall with 7 in writing and 6 in the other subsections or TOEFL 100 overall with 25 in writing and 22 in the other subsections or Pearson 66 overall with 66 in writing and 59 in the other subsections

All eligible offer holders will be considered for School studentships.  No additional application procedures apply.  Please note that should you wish to apply for any other award at The University of Manchester separate application procedures may apply.
