PhD studentships available



The Centre for Nanostructured Media is involved in a range of research projects in advanced functional materials and nanophotonics and we are offering PhD studentships in the following topics

New Plasmonic Materials for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording

Dr Fumin Huang / Dr Paul Dawson

Nanostructured Novel Plasmonic Materials for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording

Dr Robert Pollard / Prof Robert Bowman

Low Resistance Magnetoresisitive Devices for Spintronics

Prof Robert Bowman / Dr Robert Pollard

Femtojoule-per-bit Communications with Nanopillar Lasers on Si

Dr P Dawson / Dr R Pollard

Applicants should have, or expect to receive, a minimum of a 2:1 (or equivalent) degree in physics, materials science or a closely related subject.

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2013.

Please note that as the studentships are funded by various sources and candidates are expected to be UK nationals or EU nationals, fulfilling eligibility criteria. If you do not meet these requirements we cannot consider your application.
