Reflecting the rapidly developing interest in sustainable transport, this innovative postgraduate programme has been designed to equip students from a variety of backgrounds for progression to a new range of professional careers.
The programme considers the interactions between the economy, society, the environment and governance. It examines the design, evaluation and implementation of policies across sectors and spatial scales. Students examine emerging drivers for change such as climate change policies and corporate governance initiatives and develop skills to help deliver integrated transport solutions. A choice of module pathways together with a research-based dissertation allows each student to develop a unique skills set, to match their interests and future career.
Open Day â 3rd May 2013
Prospective students are invited to find out more about the programme, and meet the staff and current students, by attending an Open Day www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/openday/
Employability â jobs and careers
The transport sector continues to need people with the right skills and training. Students progress from ITS to a range of graduate-level jobs including those in consultancy, government, transport operators, not-for-profit and international agencies. ITS supports this via our close links with employers. www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/employability
ITS can advise on funding opportunities, including the process for applying for scholarship competitions, but please note that there is no automatic funding entitlement. To be eligible for scholarships, candidates must first hold an academic offer of a place on the programme. www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/scholarships
Applicants should have a good honours degree in a relevant discipline. It is not a requirement to have studied transport at undergraduate level, but applicants must be able to demonstrate a clear subject interest. International students are encouraged to apply, subject to competence in English language (IETLS 6.5 or equivalent). www.its.leeds.ac.uk/courses/masters/admissions
The programme is available for full-time study (12 months) or for part-time study (flexible attendance but typically 2-3 years duration). Shorter Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate programmes are also available. All programmes commence in late September.
