MPhil/PhD in “Evaluating the ‘Black Country in Motion’ scheme’’

Full MPhil/PhD Bursary (fees and maintenance)

The focus of this MPhil/PhD studentship is on evaluating the ‘Black Country in Motion’ project, part of the Sport England ‘Get Healthy, Get Into Sport’ scheme. The aim of this particular project is to encourage currently inactive people to engage in sport, via one of 8 Health Sport Hubs in the Black Country.

The above is a three year full-time bursary commencing September 2013. At the end of which it is expected that the PhD will have been completed. The successful applicant will initially receive £13,750 in total per year paid quarterly (rising to approx. £14,250 in year 3).

To apply for the studentship, applicants must have a first degree (upper second or better) or a Masters degree. Research experience at postgraduate level would be desirable. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Managers to implement a mixed methods approach to evaluating the effectiveness of the project, contrasting the proposed person centred, community led, and geographically targeted sport development interventions with other “universal” sport interventions.

For an application pack please email Adam.Brown2@wlv.ac.uk.
