The Scholarship:
This scholarship was established in honour of Joe Francis who died of Cancer in 1994. Part of Joe’s dream was to help deserving barbers with the financial assistance they need to attend certified barber or cosmetology schools. Joe believed that cosmetologists should receive the same benefits and opportunities available in other fields. He also had a vision for a franchise system that would provide training and jobs and would help enterprising people obtain financing and build successful businesses.
Eligibility:
Applicants are evaluated for their potential to successfully complete school, their financial need, and their commitment to a long-term career in cosmetology.
Only cosmetology students will be considered for an award (this includes barber schools, but not aestheticism training.)
Submission of a complete application by the deadline, and active enrollment or acceptance to a cosmetology school by August of the award year is required.
Candidates must include a letter of recommendation from a sponsor. Preferably, your sponsor should be an employer, instructor, counselor, or someone qualified to offer testimony of your character. The sponsor’s role is to write a letter of recommendation supporting your candidacy in response to the questions listed on the application.
