The Gilman International Scholarship Program
The Gilman International Scholarship was fashioned to assist U.S. citizen undergraduate students with demonstrable financial need intending to pursue academic studies or credit-bearing, career-oriented internships abroad for up to one year. The expectation is that the international exchange program will better prepare U.S. students to assume significant roles and have the ability to compete not only in their own field but also in the global economy.
According to the website:
Over 2,800 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded this academic year for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study or intern abroad
The Gilman Scholarship program serves students who have been underrepresented in study abroad, which includes but is not limited to: students with financial need, community college students, students in underrepresented fields such as the sciences and engineering, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds, students attending minority-serving institutions and students with disabilities. Approximately 30 percent of the total awards go to students studying in Western Europe.
The deadline also includes submitting school transcripts
