AHRC Doctoral Studentship (PhD) – Fine Art
Programme Closing Date: 7 February 2013
Fine Art at Newcastle is housed in some of the best-resourced and spacious studios, workshops and gallery spaces in Britain. Many staff have studios in the Fine Art Building, which means that you will have the opportunity to work alongside leading practitioners. We are committed to supporting individual practice, as well as to developing opportunities for collaboration with other artists, art professionals, galleries and researchers within other disciplines across the University. The ‘Life Work Art’ programme provides specialist professional training for emerging artists, and a wide range of national and international artists, curators and art theorists present their work in the weekly Visiting Speaker Programme. This vibrant creative and intellectual culture provides the basis for cutting-edge art practice and research.
For 2013 entry, we expect to award at least two studentships in Fine Art through the AHRC’s Doctoral Awards scheme. This scheme provides studentships to enable students to undertake and complete a doctoral degree (PhD). Home (UK) students and those EU students who have been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years are eligible for a full award comprising fees and an annual, tax free stipend of £13,590 (2012/13 rates). Other EU students are eligible for a fees-only award. To see if you would be eligible for a full or fees only award, please refer to the AHRC’s residency eligibility criteria in Annex A of the AHRC Studentship Funding Guide (PDF: 500KB).
