Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in STRUBI to join Professor E Yvonne Jones’ group in the Division of Structural Biology (STRUBI) at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.
Professor Jones’ group in STRUBI incorporates the Cancer Research UK Receptor Structure Research Group and numbers some 12-14 scientists. Research in the group aims to gain insight into molecular mechanism for cell surface signalling assemblies. Research projects are typically highly interdisciplinary, aiming to integrate high resolution X-ray crystallographic analyses, electron microscopy (EM) and cell based studies. We currently have the opportunity for a highly-motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist in STRUBI to join the group to work in the area of integrated X-ray, EM and advanced light microscopy based studies of cell surface signalling assemblies. You will join a very lively and motivated international and interdisciplinary group of scientists.
You will have a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject with a substantial experience in structural biology research; research experience in production of samples for structure/function studies, and substantial research experience in X-ray crystallography and/or cryoEM, preferably of glycoproteins or membrane proteins.
You will also have documented evidence of work at the level expected of first author publication in a leading refereed journal, and ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project including assisting the work of junior researchers, good communication skills, and the ability to present work at international symposia and to non-specialist audiences.
The position is fixed-term until 30 September 2019 in the first instance and funded by the Medical Research Council.
