Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) 2026/27 | Fully Funded
Applications are now open for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) 2026/27, a prestigious program established in 2009 by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong. The fellowship is designed to attract outstanding international students to pursue full-time PhD studies at Hong Kong’s leading universities.
Each year, the fellowship offers generous funding, including an annual stipend of US$43,690 and a conference/research-related travel allowance of US$1,820, for up to three years. For awardees requiring more than three years, additional support may be provided by their host universities.
Hong Kong has developed into a regional and international hub for higher education and talent development, with universities recognized for academic excellence, research innovation, and global collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria for HKPFS 2026/27
Applicants must:

Seek admission as new full-time PhD students in one of the eight partner universities.

Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

Submit an Initial Application online through the HKPFS Electronic System (HKPFSES) to obtain a reference number by 1 December 2025 (12:00 noon, Hong Kong time).

Apply for PhD admission at your chosen universities (up to two programmes/departments at one or two universities) using your HKPFS Reference Number.
