University of Warsaw Now Accepting PhD Applications for 2025/2026
The University of Warsaw has officially opened admissions for the 2025/2026 academic year, offering 325 doctoral positions across 26 scientific disciplines. Successful applicants will receive scholarships, dedicated supervisor support, and a competitive doctoral stipend to support their research journey.
These opportunities are available through the university’s four prestigious doctoral schools:
- Doctoral School of Social Sciences
- Doctoral School of Humanities
- Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Science
- Interdisciplinary Doctoral School

Who Can Apply for the University of Warsaw PhD Scholarships
To be eligible for admission, applicants must:
- Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study
- Meet the specific entry requirements outlined by the doctoral school they are applying to
- Be of any nationality – international applicants are welcome!
Selection Criteria
The selection process includes:
- Evaluation of submitted documents, including your research project proposal and scientific achievements
- Interviews for most doctoral schools
- An additional written examination for applicants to the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences
- Final results will be announced in July 2025.

- A list of scientific achievements (e.g., publications, awards, research experience)
- Additional supporting documents as specified by the chosen doctoral school
Benefits of the University of Warsaw PhD Scholarships
Successful applicants to the University of Warsaw’s doctoral programs will enjoy a range of generous benefits, including:
- Full doctoral scholarships covering the entire duration of the program
- A special “Scholarship to Start” awarded to the top 20% of applicants in each discipline
- Monthly PhD stipend of:
- PLN 4,242 gross before the mid-term evaluation
- PLN 5,340.90 gross after passing the mid-term evaluation
- Additional financial support for candidates with a certified disability: An extra PLN 1,040.70 gross per month
