McGill University Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2026 – Fully Funded Master’s Study in Canada
The McGill University Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is now open for the 2026 academic year. This prestigious, fully funded scholarship is designed to empower academically talented young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa, providing them access to world-class education and the tools needed to drive change across the continent.
The program targets students with a strong commitment to improving public health, nutrition, public policy, and sustainable agriculture across Africa through impactful leadership and service.
Scholarship Coverage
The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at McGill University covers all study-related expenses, including:

Monthly living stipend (for food, transport, personal expenses)

Flight tickets (to and from Canada)

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the McGill Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

Be a citizen and resident of a Sub-Saharan African country (see full list of eligible countries)

Be admissible to an eligible master’s program at McGill University

Have never enrolled in or completed a master’s degree

Be under 35 years old at the time of application

Possess a valid passport and be eligible for a Canadian study permit

Not hold dual citizenship, refugee, asylum, permanent resident, or citizenship status in Canada, the US, the UK, or the EU
-
Demonstrate a strong academic record (First Class Honours or equivalent preferred)

Show proven leadership, a history of community service, and a commitment to giving back

Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application Form (this is the first and most important step).

If pre-screened and selected, you’ll be invited to apply to McGill University with a fee waiver and detailed application instructions.
Only applicants who first apply to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program and pass pre-screening will be considered.
Note: Applications submitted outside this process will not be accepted.
