The Pinkston Scholarship Fund provides full tuition assistance to one staff person at the Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community in Overland Park, Kansas to complete a post high school degree or certification program at a public, in-state institution.
The student eligible for assistance shall meet the following criteria:
- Is currently working at Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community in Overland Park, Kansas and is in good standing with the company;
- Has received (or will receive in the current academic year) their high school diploma or GED;
- Can demonstrate financial need; and
- Is currently enrolled (or will enroll by the start of the academic year following the application deadline) in a public two-year or four-year college, university or certification program where they are paying (or will pay) in-state tuition.
Students must submit a scholarship application online using a form provided by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.
One scholarship will be awarded annually and assistance will generally be disbursed in two payments in August and January, provided the recipient provides a billing statement prior to each semester, maintains at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and maintains satisfactory academic progress.
Annual renewal of the scholarship until the student earns their degree or certificate, generally for up to four years, is discretionary based on availability of funds. Continued employment at Tallgrass Creek is not be a requirement for scholarship renewal.
