European Union GREEN STEM Scholarship 2025 for African Women
The European Union, through the GREEN STEM initiative, is offering fully funded scholarships for African women to pursue graduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
The GREEN STEM Scholarship supports academic mobility across Africa, preparing young African talents for careers in Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. The program aims to build a community of multicultural, entrepreneurial individuals equipped to tackle Africa’s pressing societal and developmental challenges.
Up to 92 students and staff will benefit from the program, participating in short- to long-term intra-Africa mobility at partner institutions.
Note: Scholarships are available only when your host university (where you intend to study) is different from your home university (where you are currently studying or previously studied).
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the EU GREEN STEM Scholarship 2025, you must:
- Be a woman of African nationality, residing in an African country.
- Be currently enrolled, previously enrolled, or admitted to a degree program at one of the partner institutions or any recognized university in Africa.
- Be applying to study at a different institution than your current or former university.
- Women with special needs or disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply and will receive appropriate support during the mobility period.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Monthly stipends:
- €890 for Master’s students
- €1,230 for Doctoral candidates
- €2,370 for Staff Exchange participants
- Full tuition coverage
- Visa, insurance, and application fee support
- Travel costs fully covered
- Support services for participants with disabilities
