PhD Studentships in History, Classics or Archaeology

The Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck is pleased to invite applications for fully-funded PhD Studentships, commencing 1 October 2014.

The Department is among the leading centres of historical research in the UK, with a vibrant community of 35 staff and 100 research students. The department performed exceptionally well in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, when 90% of our research activities were judged to be of international significance. Research expertise within the department stretches from antiquity to contemporary history, and we invite applications for any suitable topic. For our supervision expertise, please see:  http://www.bbk.ac.uk/history/our-staff/

The awards will include a fee waiver (up to the value of the home/EU rate) and an annual living stipend (at research council rates). To be considered for an award, candidates must also complete an application for an MPhil/PhD place in the department. The competition is primarily directed at new full-time Home/EU and International students, though applications for part-time study will also be considered.

The deadline for all applications is 17th February 2014.
