PhD Studentship: GUAN_U16LEV Climate change economics and modelling

Social Sciences Graduate School Research PhD Studentships are offered to prospective candidates from the academic year 2016/7.

The Studentship will be available under the Scheme to applicants who, in their research proposal, demonstrate academic excellence in areas relevant to the field of climate change and environmental or ecological economics.  The studentship will be based in the School of International Development.

Entry Requirements: Applicants should hold a 2:1 degree or master’s degree in a relevant field.

Applicants should have a strong quantitative modelling background. Environmental input-output modelling will be the core part of the PhD research. Strong data handling and compiling skills are essential. Some programming skills will be required, such as Matlab.

Funding

The studentship will be funded by the Social Science Faculty, with part funding coming from the Leverhulme Trust.  The successful candidate would work with Dabo Guan, Professor of Climate Change Economics at UEA as well as receiving co-supervision from other colleagues within the School of International Development. 

The Studentship covers tuition fees, a tax-free maintenance grant (currently £13,726 per year), and a research training support grant. UK/EU and international students are welcome to apply and the fee difference would be included in the award.
