Project description:
A Warwick Collaborative Postgraduate Research PhD Scholarship is available from October 2013 in the groups led by Professor Peter Sadler FRS and Professor Pete OâConnor using ultra high resolution mass spectrometry to study the mechanism of action of organometallic and photoactivatable metal-based anticancer complexes. The projects will involve the purification and characterisation of adducts of metallodrugs with DNA, RNA, proteins and other cellular components and collaboration with Bruker Daltonics as part of the Warwick-Bruker Centre for Extreme Performance Mass Spectrometry (see http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/newsandevents/pressreleases/bruker_and_the/) in the EPSRC Warwick Centre for Analytical Science (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/wcas).
Requirements:
Applicants should have (or be about to receive) an honours degree (at least II.1 or equivalent and a Masterâs degree is preferred) in chemistry, or other relevant discipline, and should have an interest in coordination chemistry, medicinal chemistry and advanced physical techniques. Due to funding restrictions hese studentships provide funding only for UK/EU students.
