MSc studentship – food related

Applications are invited for 2013 entry to a 12 month taught Masters degree in Meat Science and Technology.

Mankind has been rearing animals for meat for thousands of years. Today there are over 17 billion animals on the planet which, for many communities around the world, provide a vital source of income and nutrition. With forecasts suggesting that meat production will need to double by 2050 due to increases in the global population and growing demand from countries like China, India and Brazil, it is vital that we have an industry that is efficient, sustainable, ethically aware and forward thinking.

This multi-disciplinary course embraces a range of subjects (eg sustainable livestock production, animal health, veterinary public health, food safety, and sensory science) that will prepare you to work in an increasingly sophisticated and regulated industry.

We are looking for dynamic graduates with a good honours degree (2i min.) in a relevant subject (eg animal, food or veterinary science) who are seeking a challenging and exciting career. Funding (home tuition fee + stipend) is from EBLEX, QMS and HCC. These organisations are committed to improving the competitiveness, efficiency and profitability of livestock producers in the UK. Applicants must be eligible for the home tuition fee due to funding body requirements. Contact peter.sheard@bristol.ac.uk for further information or visit www.bristol.ac.uk/meatscience-msc.
