Project Description:?The School of Geography, Politics and Sociology seek high-quality applicants who are considering a future career in research. The School are offering fees bursaries, up to the maximum of home / EU fee rates for 2014-15, (currently ?5,500 for 2013-14) for applicants to the following postgraduate degree programmes:

Geography

  • MA Human Geography Research
  • MA Local and Regional Development (Research)
  • MPhil Physical Geography

Politics

  • MA European Union Studies
  • MA International Political Economy
  • MA International Politics (Critical Geopolitics)
  • MA International Politics (Global Justice and Ethics)
  • MA International Politics (Globalisation, Poverty and Development)
  • MA International Studies
  • MA Politics (Research)
  • MA World Politics and Popular Culture

Sociology

  • MA Sociology and Social Research

To be eligible for a full fees bursary for one of the above MA degrees, there will be an expectation of intention to progress to studies at PhD level and submission of an application to ESRC North East Doctoral Training Centre, AHRC Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership or NERC IAPETUS Doctoral Training Partnership. Value of the Award and Eligibility
Both home and international students are welcome to apply. The maximum bursary to be awarded will be full fee payment at the home/EU rate (currently ?5,500 for taught programmes in 2013-14).

Person Specification
You must have or expect to achieve a minimum of an upper-second-class honours degree in a related subject and have the intention to apply for a PhD.
