About the Scholarship

Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is funding undergraduate bursary at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. All full and part time undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a first generation bursary. Applications for the 2013/2014 academic year will be available on LORIS. Online application must be submitted by January 20, 2014.. First Generation does not mean that the individual must be a new or first generation Canadian, or that new or First Generation Canadians automatically qualify for the bursary.

 

Typically, a student whose parents have a post secondary degree, diploma, or certificate from another country would not be considered a First Generation student for the purposes of this bursary; however discretion must be exercised in these cases, for example, in situations where the parents have been unable to use their educational qualifications in Canada.. Bursary is awarded for pursuing undergraduate at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada.
The research areas of this scholarship are: The bursary is awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada.
Who can apply to this scholarship? All full and part time undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a First Generation bursary, and are NOT required to complete an OSAP application for the First Generation program. In order to be eligible for a First Generation bursary, applicants must also be long term residents of Ontario.
Benefits of the scholarship: The average amount which has been granted in previous years, per student through the First Generation program, was $1,000 per year.

Program Requirements:

1) completion of the online application form on LORIS by the deadline, January 19, 2015, 11:59 pm.

2) completion of the First Generation essay question (included on application on LORIS) by the deadline

3) completion of an online student budget form/financial statement for the current 2014/15 academic year by the deadline (included in the online student profile AND/OR the First Generation Bursary application)
