Applications are invited for a fees only MSc by Research studentship in Exercise & Health Physiology and Psychology. This studentship is aligned to the University’s MSc by Research Sports Science programme.
The objective of the research activity is to develop a 3D visual feedback tool for children which conceptualises their physical activity relative to the current Government guidelines. Specifically, children should achieve at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day in order to benefit from the associated physiological and psycho-social health benefits. However, it is estimated that over a third of children fail to meet this recommended level of activity, with a common barrier suggested to be that the guidelines are difficult to interpret and apply in terms of everyday activities. Thus, the objective of this study would be to produce a child-friendly 3D model and ascertain whether such a tool can elicit positive physical activity behaviour change.
The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Kelly Mackintosh, and based within the state of the art facilities of the Department of Sports and Exercise Science, situated in Swansea University’s Bay Campus.
