Faculty Studentships in English and Languages



The Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences is pleased to announce five fully funded 3-year postgraduate research studentships (fees and subsistence at Research Council rates) to start in October 2014 in the following areas:

  • School of English and Languages: English Literature, Creative Writing, Translation Studies, Modern Languages, Theoretic Linguistics (Morphology) and Applied Linguistics (Intercultural Communication).

Applicants must apply in two stages:

  • An application must be submitted for admission to the relevant PhD
    programme by 1 February 2014 at the latest. Details on how to apply
    can be found here:
    You must contact the School/Department before submission in order
    to discuss your proposal.
  • If you are offered a place, the deadline for submission of the Studentship
    application is 4pm, 19 February 2014; relevant documents will be uploaded to this page shortly, for completion.

Some teaching and/or other research-related duties may be assigned as part of the Studentship.

Due to funding, full studentships are only available to UK students and other EU students who have been resident in the UK for 3 years on 30 September 2014. Part-time studentships may be considered under certain circumstances.

Some studentships may have the opportunity to secure part ESRC funding, gaining access to a number of schemes open to ESRC students only.
