Early Stage Researcher/ PhD studentship Development and differentiation of the haematogenic endothelium



Available in the Ontogeny of Haematopoietic Stem Cell group (Head: A. Medvinsky) as part of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network: VESSEL consortium composed of 7 leading European laboratories and 2 private sector partners.

Project 1: Molecular mechanisms involved in development and function of the haematogenic  endothelium.

Project 2: Mechanical forces involved in endothelial-haematopoietic transition.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with evidence of high academic achievements. Lab experience in such areas as molecular biology, confocal microscopy, FACS analysis, developmental biology would be advantageous.

Eligibility: At the time of recruitment, applicants:

• should have BSc(Hon) or Master’s degree,

• be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers,

• must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to appointment.

Fixed term: 36 months. Start date as early as possible.

Salary scale: £30,765 pa (for those that join the pension scheme) or £34,184 (for those not in the pension scheme).

Mobility allowance paid in addition to the salary.
