Department of Biology at University of Western Ontario Canada:

Effective September 1, 2013, the Department of Biology guarantees a minimum annual stipend of $27,973 per year to all international graduate students for their normal program duration (two years for Master’s students, four years for Doctoral students, five years for students who transfer to the Doctoral program from the Master’s program).

This $27,973 annual stipend is normally comprised of four components (1) Teaching Assistantship (GTA) from September 1 through April 30, (2) Western Graduate Research Scholarship, (3) a summer stipend from the supervisor (GRA), and (4) an International Stipend Differential (previously known as the Tuition Waiver) (GRA).

PhD scholarship funding

• For Doctoral students who start in September 2014 (September 1, 2014 – August 31, 2015), the Doctoral Funding Guarantee is $18,741 for a Domestic student, $28,612 for an international student.
• For Doctoral students who start in the summer (May 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015), the Doctoral Funding Guarantee is $18,708 for a Domestic student, $28,399 for an international student.
