BBSRC PhD Studentship – Mathematical Modelling for Systems and Synthetic Biology



The successful candidates will be part of a new research project which seeks to employ both top-down (directed evolution) and bottom-up (synthetic biology) engineering of biomethane producing microbial communities with improved functionality. The available PhD studentship will address fundamental questions in understanding and engineering microbial communities, with a particular focus on the development of novel mathematical tools for microbial community modelling.

Awards available: 1 award available

Funding Details: The Scholarship will pay an annual stipend at the rate of £17,000 and tuition fees at the Home/EU rate.

Length of Award: 4 years (PhD)

Eligibility: Due to funding restrictions this studentship is open to UK residents only

Application Details: Candidates should have a minimum first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a suitable Science/Engineering field.
