AHRC Doctoral Studentship (PhD) Museum, Gallery and Heritage Studies

Programme Closing Date: 7 February 2013

The International Centre for Cultural and Heritage Studies (ICCHS) at Newcastle is a recognised centre for interdisciplinary research and teaching in the area of museum, heritage and gallery studies. Many of our staff have worked in museums, galleries or heritage and we engage extensively with organisations in the sector who are frequently research partners and/or users of ICCHS research. This includes: international bodies such as UNESCO; national bodies such as Engage and Arts Council England; local museums and galleries such as Tyne and Wear Museums and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art; and heritage organisations such as Northumberland National Park Authority, English Heritage, and the National Trust.

For 2013 entry we will be awarding at least two studentships in Museum, Gallery and Heritage Studies through the AHRC’s Doctoral Awards scheme. This scheme provides studentships to enable students to undertake and complete a doctoral degree (PhD).

Home (UK) students and those EU students who have been resident in the UK for a minimum of three years are eligible for a full award comprising fees and an annual, tax free stipend of £13,590 (2012/13 rates). Other EU students are eligible for a fees-only award. To see if you would be eligible for a full or fees only award, please refer to the AHRC’s residency eligibility criteria in Annex A of the AHRC Studentship Funding Guide (PDF: 500KB).
