Advanced Computer Science MPhil Scholarships

The University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Computer Science and Technology is pleased to announce that it will be awarding a limited number of scholarships and bursaries to UK students* applying for admission for the MPhil in Advanced Computer Science for the academic year 2014-2015. The awards may include full scholarships, covering approved fees and a maintenance award, or bursaries to assist with tuition fees.

The MPhil in Advanced Computer Science (the ACS) is designed to prepare students for doctoral research, whether at Cambridge or elsewhere. The ACS covers advanced material in both theoretical and practical areas as well as instilling the elements of research practice. It combines lectures, seminars and project work in various combinations tailored to the individual student; more details are given below. Prospective applicants should note that the MPhil in Advanced Computer Science is not a conversion course.

UK applicants for the MPhil in ACS are expected to hold a first-class honour’s degree or equivalent, or expect to graduate before September 2014 with a first-class honour’s degree, in? computer science. Alternatively, a degree of equal status in engineering, science, or mathematics where the applicant can demonstrate significant relevant preparation for the Cambridge MPhil course will be considered.? It will be assumed that applicants will have some programming experience and that they have mathematics to A-Level standard.

In order to be considered for an award, applicants must submit their complete applications by no later than 31 March 2014. Earlier submission is strongly advised.

* All UK students and eligible EU students (those who are classified as ‘home’ students for fees purposes) and who are offered places for the academic year 2014-2015 will be considered for the awards.
